Men's Cross Country

RSU To Compete In Southern Stampede

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's and women's cross country will travel to Joplin, Mo. to compete in the 31st Annual Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday morning at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.
 
The men's field will feature three ranked Division II programs, while the women's field includes four ranked Division II and one ranked Division I team.
 
The women's race is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. The highlight of the women's field is the No. 6 University of Arkansas who joins Missouri State as the only two Division I teams in the field. As for Division II competition, No. 12 Southwest Baptist, No. 22 DBU, No. 29 Mississippi College and No. 30 Nebraska-Kearney also will be running.
 
On the men's side, they are scheduled to start at 9:45 a.m. The field includes the No. 6 host, Missouri Southern, as well as No. 26 Nebraska-Kearney and No. 28 Mississippi College. Other MIAA teams competing include Central Missouri, Central Oklahoma, Emporia State, Missouri Western, Newman, Pittsburg State and Washburn.
 
In the opening competition of the season, both the Hillcat men and women finished second at the Orville Rogers Opener in Dallas, Texas. Freshman Jillian Skalicky was the top runner for the women as she won the women's race with the second best 5k time in school history. Freshman Julius Oheim led the men with a fourth place finish and the seventh best 8k time in school history.
