CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (1-0) scored twice in the second half after being down 1-0 to East Central (0-1) to seal the 2-1 season opening win.

Vanessa Gonzalez found the back of the net both times for the Hillcats. The El Paso, Texas native had three shots on the night.

The Tigers out shot RSU eight to five in the first half. However, freshman goalie
Savannah Harvey was excellent between the posts as she blocked five of the ECU attacks while only allowing the one goal in the 23rd minute.

The Hillcats turned up the intensity in the second half on both sides on the field as they took nine shots and held the Tigers to a single shot. Both of Gonzalez goals came within seven minutes of each other with the equalizer in the 52nd minute with the winning goal in the 58th minute.

RSU will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 5 as they travel Liberty Mo. For a matchup against William Jewell. Kick off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
