RSU Sets Three School Records At Rumble In The Jungle

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Rogers State men's and women's track and field competed in the Rumble in the Jungle at the Robert W. Plaster Center, hosted by Pittsburg State, on Friday.

In the women's 600 yard, Katie Byrd finished second with a time of 1:26.21, setting a new school record and surpassing the previous mark of 1:28.25 set by Jocelyn Turney earlier this season. Hannah Anello finished sixth with a time of 1:31.15, which ties her personal and season best mark. Jayden Lazzari finished right behind in seventh with a time of 1:31.76, which is a new personal best time. Brya Nyberg finished ninth with a time of 1:35.01, which is a new personal best. Callie Sellers finished 13th with a time of 1:43.11.

In the women's 800 meter, Jocelyn Turney finished 16th with a time of 2:25.26. Madison Lemons finished 20th with a time of 2:27.99.

In the women's mile, Brianna DeAngelis finished 10th with a time of 5:17.56, which is a new personal best time. Gloria Butts finished 18th with a time of 5:29.94, which is a new personal best time. Tori Wood finished 20th with a time of 5:34.31. Sydney Krehbiel finished 24th with a time of 5:41.38.

In the women's 3,000 meter, Sara Crosley finished 19th with a time of 11:47.47. Elizabeth Ostermaier finished 22nd with a time of 11:55.04.

On the men's side in the 600 yard, Jon Biersdorfer finished seventh with a time of 1:15.76, setting a new school record and surpassing the previous mark of 1:16.53 set by Carlos Vallejo last season. Vallejo finished just behind in eighth with a time of 1:15.84, also besting his previous record and setting a new personal best. Garry Rose finished 12th with a time of 1:17.83. Austin Green finished 13th with a time of 1:18.60, which is a new personal best time.

In the men's 800 meter, Collin McHugh finished 20th with a time of 2:00.71, which is a new personal best time. Jayden Newark finished 27th with a time of 2:04.12.

In the men's mile, Jackson Stinnett finished 14th with a time of 4:21.69, which is a new school record surpassing Byrun Ratliff's previous record of 4:22.79 set in 2020. Kory Wilson finished 22nd with a time of 4:24.99, which is a new personal best. Morne Scharnick finished 29th with a time of 4:30.39. Preston Turner finished 37th with a time of 4:47.46.

In the men's 3,000 meter, Joseph White finished 22nd with a time of 9:29.46. Blaine Phillippi finished 25th with a time of 9:32.28. Blake Phillippi finished 27th with a time of 9:46.47.

The Hillcats will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 29 as they return to Pittsburg, Kan. to compete in the Wendy's/PSU MIAA Challenge.
