CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball (7-12, 3-10 MIAA) fell 60-43 to Central Missouri (14-6, 10-3 MIAA) on Saturday. The loss breaks a three-game winning streak for the Hillcats.
Jordan Lewis led the Hillcats with 15 points and a team-high six rebounds and four assists. Vanessa Gajdosova posted six points with five rebounds and a team-high four assists. Bailey Kliewer also contributed a team-high six assists with five points and two assists.
The opening quarter was a tight affair as RSU hung with the Jennies through the quarter. UCM only outscored the Hillcats 9-7 in the period. However, in the second quarter the Jennies began to pull way as they outscored RSU 16-10 and carried a 25-17 lead into the break.
The Jennies took their first double-digit lead of the game as they opened the second half on an 8-0 run to go up 33-17. The Hillcats fought to keep UCM in check and were able to trim the lead down to 46-34 going to the final 10 minutes. Unfortunately, they began to over power RSU in the fourth quarter outscoring them 14-9. The Jennies took their largest lead at 59-41 with 46 seconds left, and eventually claimed the 60-43 victory.
The Hillcats will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 as they travel to Joplin, Mo. to face off against Missouri Southern. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
