Hillcats Defeat Harding In Regular Season Home Finale

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer (8-3-5, 6-1-3 MIAA) took a 5-0 win over Harding (3-11-2, 3-6-2 MIAA) in the regular season home finale on Saturday.
 
Five different Hillcats scored in the win. George Robinson scored his third goal of the season, Harry Outterside and Grant King scored their second with Matthew Sweetman getting his first goal. Marcos Vasallo now leads RSU in scoring with his fifth goal of the season. Declan Viljoen and Rodrigo Silva were excellent in goal with Viljoen making three saves on six shots faced.
 
The Hillcats controlled the first half with a strong mix of offensive and defensive pressure. RSU outshot the Bison 11-5 in the period with six shots on goal compared to three. In the 29th minute, George Robinson found the back of the net off a cross from Hugo Martin to break the scoreless tie 1-0. Later in the 42nd minute, Matthew Sweetman put the Hillcats up 2-0 going into the locker room on an incredible kick to the lower right corner of the goal.
 
The second half was more of the same as RSU outshot Harding 10-1 with six shots on target. Grant King found paydirt off a free kick from George Robinson in the 47th minute. Marcos Vasallo increased the lead to 4-0 in the 81st minute off a set piece in front of the goal. In the 83rd minute, Harry Outterside capped off the scoring as he threaded the needle through a tight hole to find the back of the net from the left side of the goal to seal the 5-0 victory.
 
The Hillcats will return the action on Thursday, Oct. 27 as they travel to Hays, Kan. for an important matchup against Fort Hays State. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
