CONWAY, Ark. – Rogers State men's and women's track and field opened the outdoor season competing at the Hendrix College Alumni Open on Saturday.
In the women's 5,000 meter, the Hillcats finished together in a pack with Tori Wood finishing second with a time of 18:49.50. Elena Fries finished third with a time of 18:54.13. Katie Byrd finished fourth with a time of 18:57.14. Madison Bradshaw finished fifth with a time of 18:57.20. Brianna DeAngelis finished sixth with a time of 18:57.24. Gloria Butts finished seventh with a time of 19:15.60.
In the women's 1,500 meter, Madison Bradshaw finished second with a time of 4:54.46. Brianna DeAngelis finished fourth with a time of 4:57.69. Katie Byrd finished fifth with a time of 4:58.82. Gloria Butts finished 10th with a time of 5:14.51. Madison Lemons finished 12th with a time of 5:16.90. Elizabeth Ostermaier finished 20th with a time of 5:31.70.
In the women's 400 meter, Jocelyn Turney won the event with a time of 1:01.50. Hannah Anello finished fourth with a time of 1:03.20. Jayden Lazzari finished fifth with a time of 1:03.57. Brya Newberg finished ninth with a time of 1:06.56.
In the women's 800 meter, Aubrey Campos finished sixth with a time of 2:34.42. Sara Crosley finished seventh with a time of 2:36.11. Callie Sellers finished ninth with a time of 2:39.18. Rylee Roberts finished 18th with a time of 2:52.29.
In the women's 3,000 meter steeple chase, Riley Coleman finished second and set a new school record with a time of 11:52.25, surpassing the previous record of 12:25.49 set by Christi Dougherty in 2016.
In the women's 4x400 meter relay, the team of Jayden Lazzari, Brya Nyberg, Hannah Anello and Jocelyn Turney combined for a second place finished with a time of 4:15.14
On the men's side in the 5,000 meter, Blake Phillippi finished ninth with a time of 16:43.20. Garrison Blanton finished 10th with a time of 16:43.30.
In the men's 1,500 meter, Hunter Hart won the event with a time of 4:09.13. Collin McHugh finished fifth with a time of 4:13.97. Kyle Ginn finished seventh with a time of 4:17.51. Garrison Blanton finished eighth with a time of 4:19.62. Tyler Melton finished 11th with a time of 4:25.37.
In the men's 400 meter, Jayden Newkirk finished sixth with a time of 55.00.
In the men's 800 meter, Preston Turner finished second with a time of 2:00.49. Kory Wilson finished third with a time of 2:03.08. Austin Green finished fifth with a time of 2:04.74.
In the men's 3,000 steeple chase, Jackson Stinnett won the event with a time of 9:42.97. Jon Biersdorfer finished third with a time of 9:56.33. Carlos Vallejo finished sixth with a time of 10:11.21.
In the men's 4x400 meter relay, the team of Garry Rose, Jon Biersdorfer, Collin McHugh and Carlos Vallejo combined to win the event with a time of 3:32.45. The team of Kyle Ginn, Hunter Hart, Caden Goss and Julius Oheim combined to finish sixth with a time of 3:43.24. The team of Austin Green, Jayden Newkirk, Preston Turner and Kory Wilson combined to finish seventh with a time of 3:45.15.
The Hillcats will be back in action on Friday, March 25 as they travel down the road to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the ORU Invitational.
