KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fifty-one Rogers State student-athletes were named to the MIAA Newcomer Academic Honor Roll, the league announced on Friday. This list consists of first-year and transfer student-athletes.
 
Women's golf's Ellen Loving and softball's Terran Schornick received the prestigious MIAA Academic Excellence Award for their work in the classroom. A MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
Baseball's Jesse Holguin and Gavin Mestas as well as softball's Abbey Rogers and Women's Track and Field/Cross Country's Jillian Skalicky earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors. To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete, an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution and earn All-MIAA honors in their respective sport.
 
In total, 51 Hillcat student-athletes were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution.
