KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rogers State women's soccer has been picked to finish ninth in the 2022 MIAA Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 12 head coaches.
Last season, the Hillcats just missed out on the MIAA Tournament as they finished ninth with a record of 9-8-1 (4-7 MIAA). This year, they were predicted to finish in ninth place again with 43 points in the poll under the leadership of new head coach
Chris Jones.
The defending regular season champions, Central Missouri was tabbed to repeat as they top team in the league with 11 first place votes and 121 total points. Emporia State, who won the MIAA Tournament last season, was picked second with the remaining first place vote and 105 total points. Central Oklahoma (103 points), Northwest Missouri (93 points) and Missouri Western (75 Points) rounded out the top five.
Northeastern State (66 points), Fort Hays State (61 points), Washburn (60 points), RSU and Missouri Southern (30 points) closed out the top 10. Newman (22 points) and Nebraska-Kearney (13 points) rounded out the poll.
The Hillcats will kick off the 2022 season at home on Thursday, Aug. 25 as they face off against William Jewell. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
