CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer (2-2-4, 0-0-2 GAC/MIAA) came up with a 1-1 draw against Southern Nazarene (3-3-3, 1-0-2 GAC/MIAA) on Thursday.

Josh Milla netted his fourth goal of the season in the match.
Declan Viljoen continued his excellent play in goal with nine saves on 14 shots faced and only allowed the one goal.

The first half was a defensive struggle for both teams as neither were able to get many chances to get a shot off. The Crimson Storm managed to outshoot RSU 6-4 in the opening 45 minutes, with four shots on goal compared to just two. Two of the best offensive chances for the Hillcats were called off for offsides.

The action picked up in the second period has both sides began to find more room to execute on offense. The Hillcats struck first in the 55th minute as
Josh Milla found the back of the net on an assist from
Matthew Sweetman to put RSU up 1-0. Just five minutes later in the 60th minute, SNU scored the equalizer as Alvaro Sanchez poked a ball just past Viljoen at the mouth of the goal off a cross from Kazuki Okazaki to knot things at 1-1. In the 71st minute, it looked like the Crimson Storm had taken the lead as they blasted a laser into the goal, but the referee waved it off due to the SNU player being offsides.

The Hillcats will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 24 as they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to face off against Northeastern State. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
