WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Rogers State women's basketball (3-13, 2-9 MIAA) fell 81-58 on the road to No. 5 Central Missouri (15-0, 11-0 MIAA) on Saturday.
Â
Bailey Kliewer led the way for the Hillcats with her third 20-point game of the season, knocking down 20 points with three rebounds.
Mariana Minotto came close to a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.
Fredrionna Adams contributed eight points with four rebounds and two assists.
Â
The first half was a little lopsided as the Jennies outscored RSU 22-9 in the first quarter. Things didn't get better in the second quarter as UCM took a 45-20 lead into the break.
Â
The Hillcats began to show signs of life in the second half as were able to hold the deficit in check as they were almost even in scoring in the third quarter, only trailing the Jennies 18-17 in the period. After UCM rolled up their largest lead of the game at 69-37, RSU went to work trimming the margin by closing out the game on a 21-12 run to give the Jennies an 81-58 win.
Â
One bright spot in the game was RSU shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line. This marked the first time since January 6, 2011 that the Hillcats shot 100 percent from the charity stripe as a team with at least eight attempts.
Â
RSU will return home on Thursday, Jan. 19 as they welcome Pittsburg State into the Claremore Expo Center. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
