Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

RSU Falls 1-0 Against Northwest Missouri

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (6-8-2, 4-6 MIAA) came up short in a 1-0 game against Northwest Missouri (7-4-5, 4-2-3 MIAA) on Sunday.

Tiffany Brittan (5-8) made nine saves while allowing the lone goal.

The first half was a heavy defensive period with neither side able to find much in the way of an offensive attack. The Bearcats edged out RSU with six shots to five in the period, with five shots on target to four. With neither side able to find the back of the net, both teams went into the break deadlocked in a 0-0 tie.

The second half saw more offense than the first half with NWMSU again controlling the shots 11-10, with the Hillcats taking seven shots on goal to six. Unfortunately, the Bearcats made the shot that mattered as they scored the lone goal of the match in the 58th minute off a tough play in front of the goal. RSU had multiple opportunities to score late in the game, but the Bearcat keeper stood strong and refused to allow a shot to fall for the home team.

The Hillcats will return to action on Friday, Oct. 27 as they travel to Edmond, Okla. to face off against Central Oklahoma in the regular season road finale. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
