BETHANY, Okla. – No. 2-seed Rogers State men's soccer (12-5-2, 8-4 GAC/MIAA) advanced to the GAC/MIAA Tournament Championship for the fourth time in five tries with a thrilling 1-0 double overtime win over Fort Hays State (8-8-2, 7-3-2 GAC/MIAA) on Friday.

Hugo Martin found his way onto the scoresheet for the sixth time this season in the win.
Declan Viljoen (10-5) earned his fourth clean sheet of the year making eight saves.

The Tigers wasted no time testing Viljoen as they forced him to make a save on a shot in the 5th minute of the game. The Hillcats returned the favor, testing the FHSU keeper in the 19th minute. The Tigers managed to outshoot RSU 7-4 in the period, with both sides taking two shots on goal. Despite the two teams' best efforts, the game was knotted in a scoreless tie headed into the break.

The second half saw more of the same as both teams kept the defensive pressure applied. However, this time it was the Hillcats who outshot FHSU 7-6, with the Tigers taking five shots on target to RSU's two. Regulation ended though with no goals scored, forcing overtime.

In the first overtime period, both teams were only able to get off one shot apiece. However, the Hillcats made theirs count as
Hugo Martin found the back of the net in the 99th minute to give RSU the 1-0 lead. The Hillcats were able to hold off the Tigers and refused to allow a shot on goal in the final 10-minute overtime period to secure their spot in the championship match with a 1-0 win.

RSU will now look to claim its third GAC/MIAA Tournament Championship on Sunday as they face off against No. 1-seed Southern Nazarene. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex in Bethany, Okla.
