CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball (5-5, 1-4 MIAA) earned the first MIAA win of the
Heather Davis Era as they took down rival Northeastern State (4-5, 1-3 MIAA) on Wednesday.

Two Hillcats finished in double figures in the win.
Alayzha Knapp led the way with her first double-double of the season as she put up 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to go with an assist and a steal.
Kylee Day added 11 points, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Alyza Aikins posted eight points with a team-high seven assists, two rebounds and a steal.

RSU started a little flat footed as the RiverHawks opened the game on an 11-0 run, but they bounced back and closed out the first quarter on a 10-3 run of their own to cut the deficit to 16-12. They carried that momentum into the second quarter with five quick points to take their first lead at 17-16 just over a minute into the period. Things grew close for the remainder of the half as the two sides traded points with two leads changes and three ties to send the game deadlocked at 27-27 headed into the break.

The game stayed close to start the second half with two lead changes and one tie in the third quarter as the Hillcats outscored NSU 13-10 in the period and carried a 40-37 advantage into the fourth quarter.

RSU found their stride to the start the final quarter as they opened on a 17-2 run just over halfway through the period, taking their largest lead of the game at 57-39 with just over four minutes left. They eventually took the win 58-44.

The Hillcats will close out the calendar year on Monday, Dec. 18 as they face off against Randall in the annual Claremont Elementary game at the Expo Center. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m.
