RSU Falls To Missouri Western On Homecoming

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball (4-20, 2-16 MIAA) fell 68-53 to Missouri Western (22-5, 16-3) on Homecoming Saturday.
 
Bailey Kliewer led the way with 15 points to go with three rebounds, four assists and two steals. Kaya Goldsby put up nine points with four assists, two assists and two steals. Jordan Lewis contributed eight points with a team-high six rebounds, an assist and a steal.
 
The Hillcats started hot as they opened the game on a 9-2 run. The Griffons responded with an 8-0 run of their own including back-to-back threes that gave them a 10-9 lead. They closed out the period on a 5-0 run to carry a 15-10 margin into the final 10 minutes of the half.
 
A 10-4 run to start the second quarter gave MWSU their first double-digit lead of the day at 25-14. The Hillcats battled to get the lead back down to single digits and trimmed it down the 30-26 with a 6-0 run to go into the break.
 
The Griffons dashed out to a 48-30 lead to open the second half with a 16-4 run. The Hillcats were able to cut the margin down to 50-36 headed into the fourth quarter after being outscored 20-10 in the period.
 
In the fourth quarter, MWSU took their largest lead of the game at 60-39 after a 10-3 run to begin the period. RSU kept fighting and working on cutting into the deficit and were able to get it down to 62-48 with 1:30 left. However, the Griffons eventually took the win 68-53.
 
The Hillcats will begin their final road trip of the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 15 as they travel to Edmond, Okla. to face off against Central Oklahoma. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
