Marcos Vasallo has been named a Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-American, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Â
A native of Madrid, Spain, Vasallo earned a spot on the 13-member Second Team after leading the Hillcats with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points. A D2CCA First Team All-Region selection and GAC/MIAA Midfielder of the Year, he etched his name in history as he scored the final two goals that delivered RSU's first NCAA Tournament win against rival Southern Nazarene.
Â
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three D2CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 39 student-athletes representing 32 different institutions filled out the three teams. This is the 18th year that the teams have been selected since the All-America program began in 2006.
Â
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
