EDMOND, Okla. – Rogers State men's basketball (10-5, 1-2 MIAA) fell to Central Oklahoma (6-5, 1-2) 83-65 on the road on Sunday.
"Give UCO credit, they are a good team, but we have to get better and play better," said Head Coach Justin Barkley. "This break comes at a good time for us to figure some things out. I thought we played well in moments, and liked our run in the first half. We have to be way more consistent."
Caden Fry and Andrew Mason led the way with 15 points apiece, with Fry also recording eight rebounds. Jabryn Anderson and Angus Ole each dished out three assists.
It was a tight, defensive showdown in the first half, which featured five lead changes and five ties. Neither team could gain an advantage for long, but with 12:28 left in the period Anderson threw down a one handed jam to tie the game at 11. Both teams got into more of a rhythm offensively as the contest was tied at 26 with 3:41 left in the half. RSU closed out the period on a 10-5 run. It was close to being a 10-2 run, but UCO hit a long 3-pointer at the buzzer, which made the score 36-31 at halftime.
Three minutes into the second half, UCO tied the game at 40 thanks to a 9-3 run. Both teams continued to trade blows and leads. However, the Bronchos got hot and built out a double-digit lead with 5:16 to play. UCO continued to build on its lead and won the game 83-65.
