RSU Men’s And Women’s Track and Field Both Picked 10th In MIAA Indoor Track And Field Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rogers State men's and women's track and field were both picked to finish 10th in the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, the league announced on Friday.
 
The Hillcat women were tabbed to finish 10th by the league's coaches with 21 points.
 
Defending champions Pittsburg State were selected to repeat atop the league's standings with 10 first place votes and 100 points. Northwest Missouri (one first place vote, 91 points), Washburn (75 points), Missouri Southern (73 points) and Fort Hays State (63 points) rounded out the top five. Central Missouri (59 points), Nebraska Kearney (50 points), Missouri Western (29 points), Central Oklahoma (26 points) and RSU closed out the top 10. Emporia State was also featured in the poll with 18 points.
 
On the men's side, the Hillcats were picked to finish 10th by the league's coaches with nine points.
 
Pittsburg State's men were also tabbed to defend their conference championship with nine first place votes and 81 points. Northwest Missouri (69 points), Missouri Southern (one first place vote, 66 points), Central Missouri (46 points) and Nebraska Kearney (46 points) rounded out the top five. Fort Hays State (45 points), Washburn (43 points), Emporia State (26 points), Missouri Western (19 points) and RSU closed out the poll.
 
The Hillcats will compete in six indoor meets this season beginning later today with the Crimson & Gold Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan. They pick back up in the new year on January 18 as they travel to Maryville, Mo. to run in the Coach Alsup Invite. They return to Pittsburg, Kan. on January 24 for the Rumble in the Jungle. On Jan. 31-Feb.1 they travel to Topeka, Kan. for the Washburn Open and Multis. The next week, they travel back to Maryville, Mo. for the Bearcat Invite. RSU will close out the regular indoor season on Feb. 14-15 as they compete in the 10th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan. The MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for Feb. 28-March 2 in Maryville, Mo.
