PIEDMONT, Okla. – No. 8 Rogers State softball (10-3) took down Oklahoma Baptist (6-6) in a 7-1 win on the second day of the Raising Canes Invitational on Saturday.

The Hillcats got on the board first with an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
Ashtyn Barrett drove in both
Lana Gass and
Paxton Donaldson with a two RBI single.

They added a run in the bottom of the third to go up 3-0 as
Kaylee Lyon doubled in
McKayla Carney.

The Bison got on the board in the top of the fourth with their lone run to cut the deficit to 3-1. The run scored from second on a RBI double.

RSU tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to push out to a 5-1 advantage. Lyon brought home Carney and
Callie Yellin with a two RBI single.

The Hillcats added two final runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the 7-1 win. Gass and Donaldson both scored on a throwing error by the third baseman.

Sara Llamas-Howell (5-1) earned the complete game win, scattering five hits without allowing an earned run with four strikeouts. Kayleigh Jones (3-2) took the loss.

RSU will close out the tournament tomorrow as they face off against No. 23 Southern Arkansas in Edmond, Okla. at Gerry Pinkston Stadium on the campus of Central Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
