CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State baseball (13-5, 5-2 MIAA) dropped the first game of a three-game set 12-0 to Pittsburg State (14-5, 5-2 MIAA) in seven innings on Saturday.

The Gorillas wasted no time jumping on the board in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The run came in on a sacrifice fly to right.

They added another run in the third to go up 2-0. A fielder's choice ground out to second scored the run from third.

The Gorillas broke the game open in the fifth inning, pushing across three runs to extend the lead to 5-0. Two runs scored on an error by the right fielder. The other run scored from third on an error by the shortstop.

PSU tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth. A solo homer and a bases loaded walk brought in the two runs.

They sealed the 12-0 win in the seventh as the Gorillas exploded for five runs. A leadoff solo shot got things started with a double and a single scoring the other four runs.

The Hillcats were held to just four hits and left all four runners stranded.

Tanner Leslie (4-0) earned the win.
Colton Anderson (2-2) took the loss.
