INDIANAPOLIS – Rogers State women's golf heard their name called as they earned their fourth-straight berth to the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship on May 6-8 which they will host at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla.
The Central Region is composed of the MIAA, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Great American Conference. Nine teams along with six individuals fill out the field.
The Hillcats are one of four MIAA teams to qualify for the regional. They will be joined by Central Missouri (who earned the MIAA automatic qualifier by winning the MIAA Championship), Central Oklahoma, and Northeastern State.
The top three teams and the top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship to be held May 21-25 at Orange County National Golf Center in Orlando, Fla. Should the Hillcats make the field, it would mark the third time in four seasons to appear in the finals.
RSU finished second at the MIAA Championships for the second-straight year last week. This matched their best finish in the tournament with a card of 916 (+52) over the three rounds. In total, RSU had two individuals finish in the top 10 with
Marelda Ayal leading the way with All-Tournament team honors after finishing in a three-way tie for third while shooting 225 (+9).
Lydia Sitorus finished in a three-way tie for seventh with a card of 228 (+12).
