Hillcats Come Up Short In Back And Forth Road Battle Against Bison

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (1-4) battled back and forth with Oklahoma Baptist (1-3) on the road, but ultimately came up short in the 3-2 decision.

Taylor Colmo got on the scoresheet for the first time this season scoring both goals in the match, with Amber Arnold and Brooke Hartshorn collecting assists. Marlou Frieling (1-2) made six saves in goal while allowing three goals.

The first half was a defensive stalemate as neither team could find the back of the net. The Bison were able to outshoot RSU 12-7 in the half with OBU taking all four shots on goal compared to the Hillcats' one.

The final 45 minutes were the complete opposite with both teams getting in a flurry of offense. The Hillcats came out of the half on the attack as Colmo broke the scoreless tie with a goal off a pass from Arnold in the 48th minute. The Bison responded quickly in the 51st minute with the equalizer to bring things even at 1-1. However, 33 seconds later Colmo struck again, this time with the assist of Hartshorn to put RSU back in front 2-1. OBU would once more level things in the 72nd minute with a goal that tied things 2-2. In the 85th minute, the Bison would score the game winner as an OBU forward fired in a rebounding shot off a save to take the 3-2 win.

The Hillcats will continue the road trip on Friday, Oct. 20 as they travel to Richardson, Texas to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule against UT Dallas. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
