Vaughan Rounds Out Staff With Addition Of Spain

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State Head Softball Coach Andrea Vaughan announced the addition of former Hillcat great Chelsea Spain as an assistant coach to round out her staff for the 2025 season on Tuesday.

"I am very excited to be adding Chelsea to our coaching staff," said Vaughan. "She is already making an impact, and her expertise and experience will serve our current athletes well. Having helped our program to two conference championships and one national championship during her three years here, she will help us carry on our tradition of excellence. She has been a huge contributor to this program's success, and to be able to keep her in the program is a huge win for RSU."

Spain played a large role in the Hillcats' success over the last few years as a stalwart in the infield for RSU. The Purcell, Okla. native was a driving force that led RSU to two MIAA Championships, including their first regular season title last season, as well as the 2022 National Championship. After three seasons on the Hill, Spain finished her career with a .252 average in 511 at bats with 129 hits, 115 runs, 13 home runs and 82 RBI.

She racked up her fair share of accolades in the red and navy as she was a CSC Acdemic All-District Selection and a multi-time MIAA Honor Roll recipient.

Spain is working toward her bachelor's degree in medical/molecular biology.
