CLAREMORE, Okla. — Every Hillcat scored as Rogers State men's basketball (6-4) defeated Haskell on Saturday at the Claremore Expo Center, 110-66.
RSU showcased a strong offensive performance, hitting 15 three-pointers and distributing a program-best 33 assists. The home team capitalized on turnovers by scoring 30 points off of Haskell's 20 turnovers.
RSU opened the first half with effective scoring, utilizing both perimeter and inside shots to establish a strong pace. Early on,
Andrew Mason contributed significantly with rebounds and assists, facilitating a balanced attack.
Benard Omooria added to the momentum with a fast-break three-pointer.
The team capitalized on turnovers, turning defensive stops into transition points.
Tim Jordan Jr. and
Damondre McKnight were instrumental in extending the lead with successful three-point shots and free throws. RSU ended the half leading 50–28, demonstrating control over both ends of the court.
RSU opened the second half aggressively, quickly building momentum with early baskets from
Caden Fry and Mason.
Jabryn Anderson facilitated with key assists, contributing to a series of fast-break opportunities that widened the lead. Haskell struggled to keep up, plagued by turnovers and missed shots.
As the half progressed, RSU capitalized on Haskell's mistakes, with Jordan Jr. and
Marlo Fox executing efficient plays both in the paint and from beyond the arc. The Hillcats maintained a steady pace, extending their lead significantly.
In the latter part of the half, RSU continued their offensive surge, with contributions from
Angus Ole and
Jackson Welch adding to the scoreboard. The defensive efforts were highlighted by multiple steals and defensive rebounds, limiting Haskell's scoring chances. The half concluded with RSU firmly in control, leading 110-66.
Jordan Jr. led the team with 16 points, converting all five of his free throw attempts and adding a block. Mason contributed 15 points, making 7 of 10 shots from the field and recording two steals. Anderson facilitated the offense with nine assists while also collecting eight rebounds and four steals. McKnight scored 11 points, sinking three 3-pointers in the game. Freshman
Bromo Dorn was impressive, adding a career-high 10 points off the bench.
Nehemiah Boykins led the Haskell team with 21 points, sinking 5 out of 6 from beyond the arc. He also contributed three assists and two steals. Khoahanon Atazhoon added 13 points, including two 3-pointers, while grabbing three rebounds. Zahir Michel-Fuller made an impact defensively with two steals, alongside five points. Aaron Campbell contributed eight points, four rebounds, and also recorded two steals.
Rogers State will head to Texas next week for the River City Holiday Classic in San Antonio. The Hillcats will open the invite against Dallas Baptist on Tuesday and face Texas A&M-Kingsville the following day. Both matchups are scheduled for 5 p.m. Shawn Tiemann will make the trip, and the games will be broadcast on RSU Radio.
