Anderson's historic triple-double highlighted men's basketball's 87-59 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville

Anderson joined Saint Hilaire (2019) as the second Hillcat to record a triple-double

SAN ANTONIO, TexasJabryn Anderson's triple-double highlighted Rogers State men's basketball's (7-5) 87-59 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday at Northside Sports Gym. Anderson joined Saint Hilaire (Ecclesia in 2019) as the second Hillcat to establish this feat in the final game of the River City Holiday Classic. 

The Hillcats led by 17 at halftime and maintained control throughout the game, with 11 three-pointers and 25 assists. Defensively, RSU forced 16 turnovers and recorded nine steals, capitalizing with 23 points off turnovers.

The Hillcats opened the first half with a strong offensive performance, highlighted by Caden Fry's early three-pointer at 18:30. The Hillcats capitalized on turnovers, forcing 12 from the opponent, and translated these into fast-break opportunities, scoring nine points in transition. RSU maintained control, with Fry adding another three-pointer at 13:27, extending the lead. Their defensive efforts were marked by five steals, contributing to a 17-point advantage. RSU shared the ball effectively, recording 12 assists, and finished the half with a dunk from Fry at 00:36. The Hillcats closed the first half leading 46-29.

RSU initiated the second half with a decisive 3-pointer from Benard Omooria, assisted by Anderson, at 19:24, which set the tone for an effective scoring run. Fry followed up with another 3-pointer, further extending the lead. Throughout the half, RSU maintained control with efficient shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, and capitalized on defensive rebounds to build momentum. Anderson facilitated scoring with multiple assists, contributing to a sequence of fast-break points, including layups by Stephon Thomas and a dunk by Andrew Mason. The Hillcats outperformed the opponent in the paint, accumulating 18 points, and controlled the fast break with 12 points. The half closed with RSU sustaining a commanding lead, ending the game 87–59.

Omooria scored 14 points, with four of those coming from beyond the arc. Fry led the team with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, while also contributing six rebounds. Anderson recorded a triple-double with 12 points and 11 assists, adding 10 rebounds to his performance. Damondre McKnight added 12 points and contributed four rebounds. 

Bryson Goldsmith led the Javelinas with nine points, sinking three 3-pointers. Allen Singleton matched Goldsmith's scoring output, adding nine points while collecting six rebounds. Bryce Smith contributed defensively with two blocks and also recorded three rebounds. KC Udolisa scored seven points and provided two assists, enhancing the team's offensive efforts.

RSU will return to action on New Year's Day in Wichita, Kansas, against Newman at 7:30 p.m.
