CLAREMORE, Okla. – Hillcat basketball will open the New Year in Kansas in this edition of the Hillcat Preview presented by TTCU. Shawn Tiemann will deliver play-by-play commentary on RSU Radio, and the games will be broadcast on the MIAA Network.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW
Rogers State women's basketball (4-8, 1-2 MIAA) will face the Newman Jets at 5:30 p.m. inside Fugate Gymnasium.
The Hillcats concluded non-conference play with a 70-66 home victory over Oklahoma Christian on Dec. 20. Rogers State secured the win with a 27-point offensive surge in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on 19 points off turnovers and 40 points in the paint. Ataya Casaus and Samantha Shanks each scored 14 points, Bailey Layman (12 points) and Destiny Jones (10 points) also finished with double-figures.
This matchup marks the 25th all-time meeting between Rogers State and Newman, with the Jets holding a 14-10 advantage. Last season, the teams split their games, with Rogers State winning 51-39 in Claremore and Newman taking a 67-41 victory in Wichita.
MEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW
Hillcat men's basketball (7-5, 1-2 MIAA) will conclude play in Wichita against the Jets on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
RSU finished 1-1 at the River City Holiday Classic in San Antonio, Texas, falling 79-69 to Dallas Baptist before bouncing back with an 87-59 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville. Jabryn Anderson had a standout showing in Texas, averaging 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists per game. The senior became just the second Hillcat to record a triple-double, finishing with 12 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Additionally, fellow senior Caden Fry led the team with 14.5 points per game.
Rogers State and Newman will meet for the 26th time on Thursday night. The Hillcats have dominated the series, holding a 19-6 advantage, including 8-4 on the road. However, the Jets ended a 12-game losing streak against the Hillcats last year in Wichita.
