PITTSBURG, Kan. – Hillcat track and field concluded the Crimson and Gold Invitational with a pair of top 10 finishers on Saturday at the Harvey Dean Track inside Robert W. Plaster Center.
In the men's mile,
Ian Conder led the charge with a strong finish, clocking in at 4:22.36, which earned him a commendable 10th place. Close behind was
Clint Stapleton, who crossed the line in 4:23.58, securing 13th.
Riley Pauley and
Jaxson Wheeler closely trailed one another, finishing 31st and 32nd, with times of 4:28.16 and 4:28.45, respectively.
Tesfaye Lire wrapped up the competitors with a time of 4:29.78, placing 35th.
The women's mile showcased equally impressive performances, with
Sisely Mitchell standing out by finishing seventh with a time of 5:09.81.
Kenzie Gilliam followed with a respectable 5:23.42, taking 24th place, and
Ryann Barber rounded out the trio with a time of 5:48.68, finishing in 46th place.
In the middle-distance events, the men's 800m saw
Sam Russell produce a solid run, finishing 16th with a time of 1:57.75. His teammate,
Isaac Conder, also made a commendable effort, ending the race in 26th place with a time of 2:01.29.
The women's 800m event featured impressive showings as well, with
Stella Jones finishing 14th at 2:23.32.
Kendall Howell followed with a determined effort, finishing 27th in a time of 2:28.48.
RSU will return to action on Jan. 16 at the Washburn Rust Buster held at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas.
