NEW ORLEANS - Rogers State men's and women's track and field rank in the top 15 nationally in two events in the latest US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Indoor #EventSquad Team Rankings.
The Hillcats currently rank ninth in the women's 5,000 meter with a total team time of 1:11:33 and an average time of 17:53.23. They are the highest ranked MIAA team in the top 25, ahead of No. 12 Missouri Southern and No. 14 Fort Hays State. Jordan Wallace holds the 33rd fastest time in nation finishing in 17:15.62 at the Crimson & Gold Invitational. Ashley Riggenbach holds the 44th fastest time finishing in 17:27.52 at the Crimson & Gold Invitational. Emily Cruz ran an 18:11.35 at the Bearcat Invite, while Kiera Blumhof ran an 18:38.45 at the same meet.
On the men's side, RSU ranks 15th in the men's 800 meter with a total team time of 7:37.07 and an average time of 1:54.27. The Hillcats are one of four MIAA teams ranked in the top 25, behind No. 3 Northwest Missouri, No. 4 Pittsburg State and No. 5 Nebraska Kearney. Ian Conder broke his own school record earlier this season, finishing in 1:52.86 at the Rumble in the Jungle. Isaac Conder ran a 1:52.93 at the Pittsburg State Invitational. DeShawn Crowe ran a 1:55.38 at the Bearcat Invite. Solomon Higgins ran a 1:55.90 at the Pittsburg State Invitational. Â
RSU will close out the indoor regular season on Friday, Feb. 14 as they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. for the 10th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic.
