PITTSBURG, Kan. – Rogers State men's and women's track and field wrapped up the first day of competition at the 10th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic on Friday.

The highlight of the day came in the men's distance medley relay when the team of
DeShawn Crowe,
Phillip Owens,
Isaac Conder and
Ian Conder combined to finish in seventh place with a new school record time of 10:07.95, which was 3.96 seconds faster than the previous record set by
Jon Biersdorfer,
Solomon Higgins,
Carlos Vallejo and
Jackson Stinnett last year.

In the women's distance medley relay, the team of
Sisely Mitchell,
Ann-Marie Dorsey,
Kenzie Gilliam and
Kaylee Nay combined to finish with a time of 12:22.36.

In the men's 600 yard,
Solomon Higgins finished in 10th place with a new personal best time of 1:13.74, which is 0.94 seconds faster than his previous best.

In the women's 5,000 meter,
Katie Byrd finished in sixth with a new indoor personal best time of 17:39.99, a whopping 30.98 seconds faster than her previous best.
Cadence Cordova finished right behind in seventh with a new indoor personal best time of 17:40.48, which improves her best indoor mark by 20.17 seconds.
Ashley Riggenbach finished in eighth with a time of 17:46.80.
Rayna Kucharyski finished in 16th with a time of 18:09.61.
Jordan Wallace finished in 23rd with a time of 18:25.31.

In the men's 5,000 meter,
Kyle Ginn finished in 11th with a new personal best time of 14:55.18, 12.23 seconds faster than his previous best.
Blake Feron finished in 22nd with a season-best time of 15:19.53, improving by 12.41 seconds from earlier this season.
Cade McCall finished in 35th with a time of 15:47.35.
