MARYVILLE, Mo. – Rogers State men's and women's track and field wrapped up the first day of competition at the Bearcat Invite on Friday.

The highlight of the day came in the women's 1,000 meter as
Sisely Mitchell finished third and broke the school record with what would have been a meet record in a time of 3:00.96, however Carly Holadia finished in 2:56.94 to claim the record. Her time bested the previous record set by
Katie Byrd in 2023 by 0.99 seconds.Â
Leyla Saldana finished in 18th setting a personal best time of 3:18.85.
Isabel Bush finished in 22nd setting a personal best time of 3:24.46.

In the men's 1,000 meter,
DeShawn Crowe finished in fourth broke the school record with a time of 2:30.22, which is 1.73 seconds faster than the previous record set by
Jon Biersdorfer in 2023 and 7.20 seconds faster than Crowe's previous best.
Malik Bridgeman finished in 13th setting a personal best time of 2:34.32.
Blake Feron finished in 17th with a new personal best time of 2:34.75, which is 7.94 seconds faster than his previous best.
Sam Hays finished in 24th setting a personal best of 2:39.32.

In the women's 5,000 meter,
Emily Cruz finished in fourth setting a personal best time of 18:11.35.
Kiera Blumhof finished 12th setting a personal best time of 18:38.45.
Elena Fries finished in 16th with a time of 19:05.35.

In the men's 5,000 meter,
Julius Oheim finished in 14th with a time of 15:17.78.
Lee Davis finished in 28th setting a personal best time of 15:52.88.
Nathan Hernandez finished in 31st with a new personal best time of 15:55.17, which is 0.81 seconds faster than his previous best.

The Hillcats will wrap up action at the meet tomorrow as they compete nine more events.
