AZUSA, Calif. - Rogers State men's and women's track and field wrapped up competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday.
The highlight of the day came in section B of the women's 1,500 meter as Cadence Cordova finished in second out of 179 runners and broke her own school record with an NCAA Division II Provisional Time of 4:29.74. This is 6.99 seconds faster than the record she set earlier this season and is the second fastest time in the MIAA this year as well, after setting a new personal best in the 5,000 meter yesterday. Katie Byrd finished in 82nd with a time of 4:39.37, just missing her personal best by 0.17 seconds after also running a new personal best in the 5,000 meter yesterday.
In section C of the women's 1,500 meter earlier in the day, Rayna Kucharyski finished in 14th with a new personal best time of 4:45.82, improving her best time by 1.92 seconds after also setting a new personal best in the 5,000 meter yesterday. Kaylee Nay finished in 32nd with a new personal best time of 4:48.97, which is 5.98 seconds faster than her previous best after setting a new personal best in the 5,000 meter yesterday.Â
In section C of the men's 1,500 meter, Nathaneal Gibson finished in 13th out of 77 runners with a new personal best time of 3:56.27, improving his best time by a whopping 10.53 seconds and narrowly missing the school record set by RSU Hall of Famer Baylor Harvey by 1.10 seconds.
The Hillcats return to action on Friday, May 2 as they travel to Emporia, Kan. for the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Emporia State.
