Gibson Breaks Own 1,500 Meter Record On Final Day Of Franson Last Chance

AZUSA, Calif. - Rogers State track and field's Nathaneal Gibson and Cadence Cordova closed out the final day of competition at the Franson Last Chance on Saturday.

The highlight of the day came in the men's 1,500 meter as Gibson finished in 56th and broke his own school record with a time of 3:54.91, surpassing the top time he set at the MIAA Outdoor Championships by 0.01 seconds.

In the women's 1,500 meter, Cadence Cordova finished in 16th with a time of 4:30.54, just missing an NCAA Division II Provisional Time by 0.37 seconds.

With both Cordova and Katie Byrd holding qualifying times in the 1,500 meter and 10,000 meter, respectively, they will now wait to see if they will earn at-large bids to the NCAA Division II National Championships on May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colo.
