Sitorus Finishes NCAA National Championships In Tie For 55th

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Rogers State women's golf's Lydia Sitorus wrapped up her Hillcat career with the final round of competition at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Thursday.

After three rounds at the par 72, 6,164 yard Boulder Creek Golf Club, the senior finished in a group of nine tied at 55th after shooting an incredible 69 (-3) in the final round, with a total card of 222 (+6).

"I am proud of Lydia and the career she had," said head coach Whitney Hocutt. "To finish your collegiate career at the biggest event speaks volumes and demonstrates her ability and the caliber of player she is. This week, she hit the ball really well, hitting a lot of fairways and greens. She had a couple of unlucky breaks on a few holes that cost her shots during the first two rounds. We also could not get birdies to drop during those rounds. The response she had today during the third round was spectacular. She hit 14 greens today and only had 2 bogeys with 5 birdies. To finish her career with a 3-under 69 was fun to watch.

"It is hard to win a college golf tournament, and she won multiple during her time as a Hillcat. She was named MIAA conference player of the week several times as well. I am proud of the young lady she is on and off the golf course. Lydia has a bright future ahead of her. She helped our program in so many ways, and I am thankful she chose RSU and came to Claremore to play for us. She has definitely left her mark on Hillcat Women's Golf."

After starting the day with three pars and a bogey in her first four holes, Sitorus locked in and finished the front nine with three-straight birdies on No. 7, 8 and 9.

She kept the momentum rolling on the back nine as she sank birdies on No. 11 and 13. She faced some minor adversity with a bogey on No. 14, but didn't let it faze her as he finished out the round with four-straight pars to close out the day three shots under par.
