EDMOND, Okla. — No. 11 Rogers State men's soccer team (3-0-1) remained undefeated with a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian (1-2-1) at Eagle Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.
The match featured a physical back-and-forth battle, with the two teams combining for 21 fouls, including seven yellow cards. The Hillcats led in both categories.
In the 17th minute, following a shot by sophomore
Louis Bassett, junior
Grayson Horsley scored his first career goal to give RSU the lead. Despite the Eagles outshooting the Hillcats 11-10, the RSU defense was resilient, allowing only one shot on goal to secure the shutout.
Bassett led Rogers State with three shots, one on target, while Horsley added two shots, also with one on goal. The Hillcats earned seven corner kicks, compared to the Eagles' four.
Junior goalkeeper
Jaxon Kendall (3-0-1) recorded his third consecutive shutout, needing to make only one save. Junior
Alex Fletcher returned to the lineup after missing the previous match and played the full 90 minutes on defense.
With this win, the Hillcats improved their all-time record against the Eagles to 12-4-6, marking back-to-back road victories in the series.
Rogers State will return to the pitch on Wednesday against the UT Tyler Patriots at 7:00 p.m. at Soldier Field. This matchup will be the third meeting between the programs, with UT Tyler winning the last encounter 2-0 in 2022.
