CLAREMORE, Okla. — Rogers State Women's Soccer (0-2-3) and Oklahoma Baptist University (0-3-3) battled to a 2-2 draw on Saturday in the non-conference finale at Soldier Field.
The first half featured a strong defensive performance by RSU, with
Calais Butts making key saves, including stopping a shot by Hali White in the third minute. Despite a series of offside calls, the Hillcats maintained composure, and
Elle Beaulieu (2) broke the deadlock with a goal in the 40th minute. The period concluded with the Cats' in control, leading 1-0 over Oklahoma Baptist.
The second half began with a flurry of activity as RSU's Beaulieu took an early shot at 47:41. Despite a goal by Oklahoma Baptist's Sam Sheffield in the 53rd minute, leveling the score, RSU regained the lead in the 73rd minute with
Delana King's (2) goal, assisted by
Amber Arnold. The match remained tense as Oklahoma Baptists' Lex Williamson equalized with an 81st-minute goal, resulting in a 2-2 draw at the end of regulation.
Butts (0-2-3) delivered a strong defensive performance with nine saves. Beaulieu contributed offensively by scoring one goal from her two shots. King also found the back of the net, recording one goal from two attempts. Arnold provided an assist, adding to the team's offensive efforts.
Hannah Schulze also performed well defensively, while also providing a pair of shots.
Rogers State will open MIAA play next Friday against Missouri Western (4-0-1). Kick off from Soldier Field will take place at 7:00 p.m.
