Hillcat Preview: January 12 – January 18

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Hillcat basketball remains at home against Pitt State and MSSU, while track and field returns to action at a pair of meets up north in this edition of the Hillcat Preview, presented by TTCU.

TRACK AND FIELD PREVIEW
Hillcat track and field returns to action this weekend after a month off, starting with the Washburn Rust Buster on Friday at the Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas. Running events are set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
 
The weekend will conclude on Saturday at the Coach Richard Alsup Open inside Hughes in Maryville, Missouri. Running events will start at 9 a.m., and only men will compete.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW
RSU women's basketball (6-9, 3-3 MIAA) finished the week with a 1-1 record at home, securing a 58-54 victory over UAFS on Wednesday before falling to rival NSU, 86-44, on Saturday.
 
The Hillcats will host No. 11 Pittsburg State on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Missouri Southern on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Both games will be available on RSU TV, RSU Radio and the MIAA Network. Visit linktr.ee/rsuhillcats for more information.
 
Wednesday will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Pitt State holding an 8-2 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, the then 8th-ranked Gorillas claimed a 73-51 win over the Cats in Kansas.
 
RSU will look for its first-ever win over the Lions on Saturday, as MSSU holds a 12-0 series advantage. Earlier this season in Joplin, Southern claimed an 84-67 victory.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW
Rogers State men's basketball (9-6, 3-3 MIAA) finished last week with a 1-1 record after defeating No. 5 Arkansas-Fort Smith, 73-61, on Wednesday before falling to rival Northeastern State, 96-87, on Saturday at the Claremore Expo Center.
 
RSU will host Pittsburg State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Missouri Southern on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on RSU TV, RSU Radio and the MIAA Network. Visit linktr.ee/rsuhillcats for more information.
 
Wednesday's matchup will mark the 12th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Rogers State holding a 6-5 series lead. Pittsburg State won the earlier contest this season, claiming an 86-64 victory in Pittsburg.
 
Saturday's game against Missouri Southern will also be the 12th all-time meeting in this rivalry, with Southern leading 7-4. The Lions won the earlier game this season, 84-77, in Joplin.
