KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior Thomas Kubala made history on Tuesday as he was named the first-ever Hillcat to win MIAA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office.
 
This accomplishment follows Kubala's victory at the Griffon Open last weekend on the MWSU Cross Country Course in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Conroe, Texas, native finished in 25:30.1 to win the 8K, marking the first individual victory of his collegiate career.
 
The Hillcats will open the postseason in St. Joe for the MIAA Conference Championships, hosted by Northwest Missouri State, on Saturday, Nov. 7.
