Jabryn Anderson's near-perfect shooting performance guided the Hillcats (16-8, 10-5 MIAA) to a 75-59 victory over Central Oklahoma (15-12, 8-7 MIAA) at Hamilton Field House. RSU completed the regular season sweep with the road victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Hillcats took control early, leading 41-26 at halftime, and maintained their advantage through strong defense, registering eight steals and five blocks. The Bronchos kept pace in the second half but could not overcome the early deficit.
RSU opened the first half with effective shooting, connecting on 13 of 23 attempts, including six 3-pointers. The Hillcats capitalized on turnovers, scoring 13 points off the Bronchos' mistakes. Anderson provided a boost with multiple baskets, including a crucial 3-pointer at 6:07 that extended the lead.
Tim Jordan Jr. and
Caden Fry contributed significantly, with Jordan Jr. adding important free throws and Fry executing a fast-break layup, further extending RSU's lead. By the end of the half, the Hillcats held a 41–26 lead over the Brochos, showcasing strong defensive play with four blocks and maintaining steady offensive momentum.
RSU opened the second half with a strong defensive presence, forcing turnovers and capitalizing on fast breaks. A pivotal moment came when
Benard Omooria hit a three-pointer at 16:07, sparking a momentum shift that saw RSU extend its lead. Anderson contributed significantly with both a steal and a fastbreak dunk, further widening the gap.
The Hillcats maintained their control throughout the half by effectively converting opportunities in the paint, highlighted by
Damondre McKnight's layup and three-pointer. Despite the Bronchos' attempts to rally, RSU kept its composure and continued to build on its lead. The game concluded with RSU ahead, 75–59.
Anderson led RSU with 25 points on 9 of 10 shooting, making all five of his three-point attempts, and added five assists. McKnight contributed 14 points and recorded two steals.
Stephon Thomas posted three blocks and added five rebounds. Fry scored 11 points and dished out four assists.
Josh Nwankwo led the Bronchos with 18 points, making 8 of 15 field goals, including one 3-pointer. He also contributed defensively with two blocks and two steals. Matthew Willenborg added 9 points and was strong on the boards, securing seven rebounds. Brady Hancuff provided scoring off the bench with 9 points, hitting 4 of 6 shots from the field. Marcus Zeigler, Jr. made an impact from beyond the arc, connecting on two 3-pointers and totaling seven points.
