No. 15 Hillcats Best Bronchos in Bricktown on Tuesday night

RSU cruised to a 13-6 win over UCO in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — No. 15 Rogers State baseball (21-3, 9-1 MIAA) keeps rolling after cruising to a decisive victory over Central Oklahoma (12-12, 3-7 MIAA) with a final score of 13-6 on Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. With the win, the Hillcats run their winning streak to 13 games.
 
RSU jumped to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first inning and sealing the game with another five-run burst in the ninth.
 
The Hillcats opened the game with a powerful first inning, scoring five runs before the Bronchos' offense could hit the field. Kade Goeke singled up the middle and later scored alongside Sammy Harris on Jake Mitchell's single. Trevor Spainhoward's double and Zak Nelson's single added three more runs, giving RSU a 5-0 lead through the first inning.
 
In the bottom of the second inning, the Bronchos responded with two runs. Wyatt Yetter doubled, followed by a two-run double from Cade Mills, reducing the deficit to 5-2 after two innings.
 
The Hillcats added to their lead in the fifth inning. Mitchell singled to bring home Andrew Ramirez, extending the lead to 6-2 through five innings.
 
In the sixth inning, RSU capitalized on a fielding error, allowing Luis Fuentes to score and increasing the lead to 7-2.
 
The seventh inning saw another run for the Cats' when Andres Contreras scored on a fielder's choice, making it 8-2. Central Oklahoma countered with two runs, including an RBI double by Gage Gilchrist, narrowing the gap to 8-4.
 
RSU put the game out of reach in the ninth inning with a five-run surge. Mitchell's walk set the stage, and as the inning progressed, a combination of a fielder's choice, an error and a single by Harris added five runs, bringing the tally to 13-4. Central Oklahoma managed two runs in their half, closing the game at 13-6.
 
Damon Anderson-Wolf (5-0) made his fourth start of the season for RSU, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing five hits while striking out four batters and conceding two earned runs. He threw 75 pitches, with 49 strikes, and picked off one runner. Ricardo Landeros relieved Wolf, pitching 1.1 innings, during which he gave up four hits and two earned runs. Mason Trotter entered for a flawless eighth inning, striking out one batter and maintaining a WHIP of 0.00. Michael Klein closed the game by pitching one inning, allowing one hit and one earned run while recording a strikeout.
 
Mitchell went 2-4 with three RBIs, two runs, and a walk. Spainhoward added two hits, including a double. Gutierrez and Fuentes each recorded two hits as well.
 
Hillcat baseball will stay on the road this weekend for a three-game series against the Newman Jets in Wichita, Kansas. Games at McCarthy Field are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
