About: In his first season with the Hillcats, Boyd played in 22 games, starting 18, averaging 11.4 points per game. He scored a career-high 26 points while grabbing 10 rebounds vs. Mid-America Christian on 1/9/10. Boyd recorded 13 double-digit scoring games and four double-doubles, shooting 57 percent from the floor and 46 percent from behind the arc on the year. As a sophomore at NEO A&M in 2006-07, Boyd averaged 11 points and six rebounds. Boyd was an all-state selection at Wagoner High school where he averaged 20 points and 10 boards and says he chose RSU because of “the outstanding basketball program.”

Barkley on Boyd: “We’re expecting Boyd to have a really solid year for us. Coming off the season he had last year, we know what he brings to the table and we have a better grasp of his game. He has worked extremely hard on his game John throughout the off season, and we are anticipating big things from him.”
