Summary

Biography

About: Hartzler is back on the Hill for his senior season after being RSU's second-leading scorer during the 2014-15 season, earning Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors for the team. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native appeared in all 28 games as a junior making 24 starts, and averaged 14.3 points per game to land a spot on the All-Heartland Conference Second Team. He hit double-digit scoring in 21 contests, including matching his career-high 26 points against St. Mary's in both meetings. Excelling in the classroom as well, he became the first men's basketball player in program history to be named to the Capital One Academic All-District ® team. As a sophomore, Hartzler started 25 of 26 games, ranking third on the team scoring 12.2 points per game. He reached double figures in 16 games in 2013-14, scoring a career-high 26 points against Dallas Baptist and recorded his first double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds at Newman. He made immediate contributions as a true freshman playing all 32 contests, making 20 starts, while tallying 199 points, 40 assists and 22 steals in 2012-13. Hartzler serves on the RSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the vice president. He came to RSU following a decorated career at Union High School playing for Head Coach Rudy Garcia. The 2012 Tulsa World Oklahoma Player of the Year, Hartzler also was named Frontier Valley Conference Player of the Year, OCA All-State, and academic all-conference. He helped lead the Redskins to an undefeated state championship and closed out his prep career with 964 career points. As a junior in 2010-11, he led Union to a state runner-up finish while earning academic all-conference and first-team all-conference honors. The son of Kirt and Susan Hartzler, he said he chose RSU because "I felt really comfortable around the players and coaches. Also, I wanted to be close enough to my great family."
