About: Thompson finished second on the team in points per game averaging 13.1 in his first season on the Hill as he earned NAIA All-America Honorable Mention honors. As a junior he was named All-SAC First Team. He joined the Hillcats after playing at Sam Houston State under head coach Bob Martin. Prior to playing for the Bearkats, Kendrell played the 2008-09 season at Collin County Community College where he averaged 14.8 points, four assists and four rebounds. At Collin County, Thompson was named first team all-conference and first team all-region. Thompson said he chose RSU “for a new beginning and because it’s a great environment with good people.”

Barkley on Thompson: “Kendrell can shoot the basketball and has a competitive spirit that doesn’t like to lose. Hopefully that will carry over to the rest of the newcomers and the guys returning.”
