Policy on Awarding 5th-Year Athletic Grants After Eligibility is Expired
 
It is the Athletic Department’s intent to reward those student-athletes who have exhibited outstanding academic and athletic performance, by providing the opportunity and motivation for student-athletes to complete their college degree by offering additional financial aid to its most deserving student-athletes.

 


NOTE: This scholarship is not for the purpose of adding a minor or double major (or concentration). The intent of this scholarship is to assist student-athletes in completing their primary degree objective.
 
A limited number of 5th-year scholarships will be available to student-athletes.
 
In order to qualify for one of these scholarships, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria.
 
Criteria
The student-athlete should:

• Be in their 5th year of collegiate enrollment and have exhausted their athletic eligibility (or career ending injury);
• Not be participating in another intercollegiate sport during the period of the award;
• Be within 32 semester hours of completion of his or her first undergraduate degree at the completion of the spring 2016 term;
• Have a recommendation from the head coach;
• Have applied for Summer, 2021, Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 graduation;
• Have a minimum overall GPA of 3.00; and
• Have been a team member in good standing throughout the previous academic year.

Student-athletes must submit an application which will be reviewed, and decided on, by the 5th-Year Scholarship Committee. As the demand and popularity for these scholarships increase, there is a strong possibility not all applicants will be awarded. Awards will be based on the availability of funds and selection of award recipients will be prioritized by those student-athletes who exhibit the highest totals in each of the following criteria:

• GPA
• Number of years at Rogers State University
• Student-athletes who are within one term of graduation
• Student-athletes who are within two terms of graduation
