Ben Rovenstine

Ben Rovenstine enters his third season as an assistant men's basketball coach at Rogers State in 2017-18 after coming to the Hill in October 2015.

On the Hillcats' staff, Rovenstine plays an instrumental role in the recruiting efforts locally and nationally, while supporting the skill development of both guards and forwards. He helps manage the community engagement efforts of the program and assists the head coach with daily practice and game plans. Rovenstine also aids in the scouting of opposing teams and develops the academic progress of student-athletes.

Rovenstine saw instant success in his first year with the Hillcats as the team won the Heartland Conference regular season championship in 2015-16. He coached the Heartland Conference Player of the Year, JC Hartzler, along with another all-conference selection, Donald Moore.

In his second season in 2016-17, Rovenstine coached Heartland Conference Player of the Year, Jeylyn Sharpe and Heartland Conference Newcomer of the Year, JD Tisdale. Three Hillcats earned all-conference honors: Sharpe, Tisdale and Baron Smith Jr.

Rovenstine joined the RSU staff from Independence Community College, having spent two years as an assistant coach. With the Pirates, he identified and signed potential student-athletes, assisted in enrollment and tracking academic progress, as well as establishing and implementing the strength and conditioning regiment.

Prior to his position at ICC, he worked one season as assistant coach and resident director at Allen Community College from 2012-13 and one season at Coffeyville Community College from 2011-12, following a stint as the graduate assistant coach at Northeastern State between 2009 and 2011.

The Bartlesville, Oklahoma native had a remarkable prep career for the Bruins earning all-state honors as a senior leading the team to the 2005 Oklahoma Class 6A state championship game.

He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Northeastern State University, where he was a four-year letter winner on the men's basketball team. Rovenstine also is an active member in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
