About: Ayala is back on the Hill for his final collegiate season in the RSU backcourt in 2015-16. The Metropolis, Illinois native started seven games as a junior last season appearing in all 28 contests. He played 17.0 minutes per game averaging 2.9 points and 3.6 rebounds and ranked second on the team with 68 assists and a 2.4 assist to turnover ratio. He set a career-high pulling down 10 rebounds against Oklahoma Christian and twice had seven assists in a game, ranking sixth all-time in single-game history. In his first season with the Hillcats in 2013-14, Ayala made 24 appearances, including 15 starts. He averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, scoring a season-best 13 points at home against Oklahoma Christian going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field. Ayala came to the Hillcats from Rend Lake College where he helped the team to a National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Championship as a freshman in 2013. While playing for the Warriors, he averaged 5.5 points and dished out 71 assists as the team's point guard. Ayala is a graduate of Massac County High School where he played under Head Coach Joe Hosman and helped the team to a state runner-up finish in 2010. The son of Dora Ayala, he said he chose RSU because "it was the best for me."
