Biography

About: Coriz returns to the Hill for his second season after breaking onto the collegiate scene competing in all six meets as a freshman in 2013 earning RSU Newcomer of the Year accolades. The Santo Domingo, N.M., native was among the top three RSU finishers at all but one event with his best performance coming at the Heartland Conference Championships running the 8k in a personal-best time of 26:26.3 placing 18th overall. His top result came in a fourth-place finish at the Islander Splash helping the Hillcats to a team title. Coriz joined RSU from New Mexico Military Institute where he was a three-year member of the cross country team for Head Coach Jan Olesinski. An all-state selection while serving as team captain during his senior season, he was named to the 2012 all-harrier cross country team and received the Notah Begay III Game Changer award. Coriz helped lead the Colts to three district titles and was a two-time individual district champion. In 2012, he finished sixth at the New Mexico state championships. He was named the 2013 Cross Country MVP and the 2013 Co-Male High School Athlete of the Year at New Mexico Military Institute. The son of Emilia Lovalo and Ernest Coriz, he said he chose RSU because "it was the best fit for me and I wanted to continue running cross country."
