About: Sowerby is back on the Hill for his final season in the navy and red after earning RSU Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2014. The Newcastle, England native started all 17 matches anchoring the back line as a junior tallying one goal against St. Mary's and two assists for four points. He earned a spot on the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II All-South Central Region Third Team, All-Heartland Conference Second Team, and NSCAA Scholar All-South Region Second Team. As a sophomore in 2013, Sowerby was selected first-team all-conference playing nearly every minute for RSU, starting all 18 contests. He tallied his lone goal of the season against St. Edward's and added an assist totaling three points on the year. He also earned a spot on the spring 2014 RSU Honor Roll. Sowerby appeared in 17 games as a freshman in 2012, starting 13, compiling one goal and three assists. He came to the Hill from New College Durham where he played under Head Coach Colin Myers. His team ended the 2011-12 season at the quarterfinals of the National Cup. He also played club soccer for Willington AFC under Head Coach Rob Lee. He scored three goals helping the team reach the Cup Finals. The son of Sandra Fleming, he said he chose RSU because of the "good facilities, good future and a new experience."
