About: Ellington joins the track and field team for the inaugural season after spending two seasons with the Hillcat softball team. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native started all 3 games for RSU in the outfield in 2014 posting a .243 batting average. In the 2013 season, Ellington played 45 games for the Hillcats tallying a .944 fielding percentage from the outfield adding 28 putouts and six assists. She came to RSU from Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa playing for head Coach Karrie Linsenmyer. As a sophomore, she compiled a .293 batting average with 44 hits, nine doubles, four home runs and 37 RBI. Her freshman season as a Lady Mav, Ellington hit .257 with 27 hits, three doubles, three home runs, and 15 RBI. Over her two year career in Tonkawa, she totaled 17 steals. The graduate of Bishop Kelley High School was named all-conference, all-region, and earned honorable mention all-metro and all-state honors as a catcher. The daughter of Royce and Alice Ellington, she said she chose RSU because "I got a scholarship."
