DURANT, Okla. - Rogers State's bid for a perfect November came to an end at Southeastern Oklahoma State on Monday as the Savage Storm edged the Hillcats 55-45 at Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
Â
RSU couldn't find its stroke offensively, shooting just 31-percent for the game. Senior Bryson Krueger posted just five points on 2-of-12 shooting. The Hillcats converted on only 2-of-10 three-point attempts while trying to claw their way back into the game in the second half.
Â
RSU trailed 30-20 at halftime after a sloppy first half by both teams. Southeastern opened the second half on a 12-3 run and held a 19-point advantage with 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Hillcats cut the deficit down to six with just under two minutes to play and had several opportunities to draw even closer. However, the Cats were unable to overcome their shooting woes to complete the comeback in the closing seconds.
Â
Senior Kyric Rambo led the Storm with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Eric Young finished with 13 points for RSU while Sylvester Spicer recorded his second consecutive double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Â
Rogers State (5-1) lost for the first time after beginning its inaugural campaign on a five-game winning streak. The Hillcats will open Sooner Athletic Conference play on Thursday at Mid-America Christian. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. and the game can be heard live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM and at www.rsuhillcats.com.
