Drovers Drop Hillcats, 88-74

CHICKASHA, Okla. - University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma sunk eight 3-pointers and 30 free throws to get past Rogers State 88-74 in Chickasha Saturday evening.

The Hillcats outrebounded the Drovers and shot 45-percent for the game but couldn't overcome a balanced scoring attack by USAO. Six Drover players finished in double figures, led by Je'antel Haynes with 18 points. Haynes connected on 12-of-15 free throw attempts as RSU was whistled for 25 fouls in the game.

Four Hillcat players posted record numbers in the loss. Tasha Parker, Hunter Peterson and Andrea Robinson each finished with 13 points. Robinson came off the bench to hit three treys. Azzie Knox added 12 points and five rebounds. The foursome set new personal scoring records at RSU.

RSU trailed 44-35 at halftime and couldn't mount a comeback thanks to precision shooting by the Drovers at the charity stripe. USAO shot 79-percent (30-of-38) from the free throw line while the Hillcats only attempted 24 free throws.

Katie Rice tallied seven points in 14 minutes of action in only her second game back from an injury. Freshman Hayley KnifeChief, who leads RSU in scoring, didn't score for the first time this season.

Rogers State (7-8, 3-4) has lost three straight conference games and will look to get back on track at home this week. The Hillcats host Oklahoma Christian Thursday night at the Claremore Expo. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. and the game will be aired live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM and RSU Public Television.
