Hillcats Rebound against Bacone College, 68-45

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State bounced back from a disappointing loss Saturday with a 68-45 drubbing of Bacone College Monday night at the Claremore Expo.

The Hillcats dominated the offensive and defensive glass to post a new team record with 57 rebounds. Four players posted double figures in rebounding, led by Katie Rice and Tasha Parker with 12. Rice produced a double-double by scoring a career-high 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

RSU took control in the first half with an 18-2 run that spanned over eight minutes. Sophomore Hunter Peterson capped the run with a driving layup at the 7:17 mark of the first half to push the lead to 25-7. The Cats were never challenged from that point as they took a 38-19 lead into the locker room at halftime. Junior guard Autumn Thompson tallied 10 points during the first half spurt for RSU.

The Hillcats shot just 26 percent from the field in the second half, but managed to keep the lead at a safe distance. RSU forced the Lady Warriors into 21 turnovers while committing only 12. Rice gave the Cats their largest lead of the game with a bucket in the final minute to make it 68-45.

Peterson led all scorers with 16 points to go along with five assists. Thompson finished with 13 points while Hannah Owen and Sophia Piggie grabbed 10 rebounds apiece. The Hillcats held Courtney Dixon to just eight points after the strong forward posted 25 points in last week's season opener.

Rogers State (2-1) will benefit from a well deserved three days off after playing four games (one exhibition) in seven days to start the season. The Hillcats will host "Hoopin for the Cure" Friday and Saturday at the Claremore Expo. For details on the event visit www.rsuhillcats.com.
